CUT: (Macklin) The IRS Free File program provides taxpayers who have an adjusted gross income of $60,000 a year or less with free, online, name-brand tax preparation software products. Free File walks taxpayers through the filing process to ensure they capture all of the credits and deductions they deserve.
SCRIPT: Over the past twelve years, the Free File program has donated 40 million federal tax returns, saving taxpayers more than 1.3 billion dollars in tax preparation costs.
CUT: (Macklin) Twenty-one states have their own Free File programs that are for both federal and state filings. So, taxpayers should check with their State Department of Revenue to see if they're eligible. With the April 15th deadline quickly approaching, we hope every eligible taxpayer takes advantage of Free File and puts more money back into their pockets.
