Lufthansa passengers will be in the center of a rare cosmic event during today's LH521 flight from Mexico City to Munich. While on its way to the German metropolis, the Airbus A340 will be flying over the East Coast, literally through the shadow of The Great American Eclipse. The eclipse will last for several hours and the passengers will see the sun covered by up to 95%. Flight Captain Marko-Cyrus Müller and his crew will navigate the plane at 30,000 feet near Greenwood, South Carolina, almost into the total eclipse - if air traffic and wind speeds allow. The Lufthansa crew will provide passengers with special sun protection glasses to fully and safely enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
