ANCHOR LEAD: Many of today's auto technologies on the market are designed to improve safety and comfort on the road, and can often increase driver confidence. Brian Osuch has more on some of the latest advancements that can help mature drivers stay on the road longer. (:60) SCRIPT: Newsbreak, I'm Brian Osuch. Vehicle safety features are helping drivers stay on the road through their later years. The Hartford and MIT Agelab conducted research to better understand their impact on the driving experience. Jodi Olshevski is a gerontologist with The Hartford. CUT: (Olshevski) At The Hartford, we view auto technology as a very important component of staying safe on the road – and so we're focused on empowering mature drivers to know and also to use their vehicle's technology safety features. SCRIPT: Olshevski says modern technologies can help build driver confidence . CUT: (Olshevski) Our experts identified ten technologies that can greatly benefit mature drivers. For example, we found that the top concern of these drivers is seeing at night. "Smart Headlights" can actually help to address this concern, simply by adjusting the range and intensity of the vehicle's headlights to the driving environment.
