Digital substation helps New York guard against storm chaos

After Hurricane Sandy caused widespread power outages in New York in 2012, energy company Con Edison were determined to improve their infrastructure. They turned to ABB, who upgraded much of the equipment in their substation servicing Lower Manhattan to digitally-enabled technology, which communicates via the cloud and allows for big data mining of business intelligence.
