Searching for Peace in the Middle East

Christian minority groups are being heavily persecuted by terrorist groups such as ISIS across the Middle East. In addition, large numbers are fleeing conflict in Syria to countries like Lebanon.

MEPs discussed the situation of this Christian minority and the problems in the Middle East at an EPP Group Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue meeting in Brussels.

Cardinal Rahi of the Maronite church, a Christian minority, gave his views on what the international community could do to help the situation. EPP Group MEP Gyorgy Holvenyi suggested that the EU could take action in the areas of education and job creation.
