FILA Museum Contributes to Fourth Annual Children’s Reading and Sporting Festival

FILA and the Municipality of Candelo host fourth annual Children's Reading and Activity festival

(FILA Italy) – Reading and playing sports: is there a healthier way to raise our children?

This past weekend, the fourth annual Children’s Reading and Sporting Festival took place in Ricetto, Italy. Organized by the Municipality of Candelo in cooperation with the FILA Foundation Museum, the event promotes the importance of reading and activities among children, particularly those in the 3-11 age range.

The festival drew a very diverse crowd this year, with kids and adults of all ages participating in the day’s activities, which included animated readings, book presentations, creative workshops, a cooking class, face painting, traditional games, and athletic demonstrations. FILA Museum's 2016 ambassadors, Jury Chechi and Andrea Lucchetta played an active part in the days events as hosts of the “Olympic Village,” where the two athletes invited participants to hear stories of their victories, and learn some of their signature moves. To continue the momentum, Jury Chechi even extended to participants an opportunity to attend a weeklong summer camp where they would have the opportunity to train under the watchful eye of the former Olympian.

Mariella Biollino, Mayor of Candelo expressed her appreciation for the event and the partnership, stating, "The Festival 2016 promises to be a big event as well as a good tool for enhancing the village and of the country, both as a cultural and tourist driver, as well as socio-economic. Thanks to this collaboration, this network grows and improves every year."

The Fondazione FILA Museum added, "The emotion is superimposed on the satisfaction in being able to support a unique event of its kind in the Biella, an event that brings together two important cultures: reading with sport. This winning combination provides high values on which our young people will be able to build their future.”
