ANCHOR LEAD: Auto Show season is well underway, but for most auto enthusiasts, one of the biggest and most important shows of the year takes place in the Motor City. Brian Osuch has more. (:60) SCRIPT: Zero-to-Sixty, I’m Brian Osuch. This year’s North American International Auto Show is already shaping up to be one of the classics… with interesting vehicles like the Chevrolet Colorado, which was introduced last year, but just now starting to come into showrooms. GM’s James Bell says one big trend is with electric vehicles aimed at meeting emissions and fuel efficiency standards that only electrification will help us meet. CUT: (Bell) Chevrolet is doing their part, we’ve introduced the new version of the Volt. It’s now a five passenger car, instead of four, has a more user friendly and high-tech interior and it goes about fifty-miles of electric range instead of thirty-eight. So, it’s really going to cover most people’s commutes. SCRIPT: Bell says some other cars are catching enthusiast’s eyes… CUT: (Bell) The new Stingray is a fantastic vehicle. It’s really shaken up the sports car market. Well, now we’ve upped the game with the Z06. Listen to these numbers… zero to sixty in two-point-nine-seconds. Breaking – obviously you’ve got that kind of acceleration; you’ve got to have great breaking. It will go from sixty to zero in less than one hundred feet, which is supercar territory… Lamborghini, Ferrari kind of space. SCRIPT: For more, go to GM.com. That’s Zero-to-Sixty from GM.
