Do You Have the Need for Speed

Audio Package, .mp3
ANCHOR LEAD: While today’s headlines are dominated by mileage, electric/hybrid vehicles and autonomous cars, one test has proven sports cars are back and better than ever. Brian Osuch has more. (:60) SCRIPT: Zero-to-Sixty, I’m Brian Osuch. (SFX: Corvette speeding by) Some of today’s hottest sports cars were put to the test at the Virginia International Raceway for Car and Driver’s “Lightning Lap.” Eddie Alterman, editor-in-chief of the magazine says it was all in the name of speed to find the fastest car in the world! CUT: (Alterman) Third place, we’re into the legitimate super car realm, with the $250,000 Lamborghini Huracan. Second place, the $300,000 McLaren 650S. But, the one that took it all this year was the $100,000 Chevrolet Corvette Z06… a relative bargain. SCRIPT: The performance car segment is seeing tremendous growth, Alterman says one reason is because bonuses are back and there’s money to be spent on toys like sports cars. CUT: (Alterman) When you’re looking for a performance car, the most important thing is how you react to it. This is really an avatar for your personality, it’s a way to express who you are. You have to love it, a car like the Z06, it’s mean looking, it’s really loud, it sounds great and you’re telling the world this is who you are. SCRIPT: For more go to CarandDriver.com. That’s Zero-to-Sixty from Chevrolet.
