SCRIPT: Zero to Sixty, I’m Brian Osuch. Now that summer is here a lot of people will be hitting the road and heading out on summer getaways. Fuel Economy Expert, Roger Clark says there are some simple ways to conserve fuel during long road trips?
CUT: (Clark) Speed is the biggest factor. For every ten miles an hour faster that you drive, you lose about four miles per gallon. Acceleration is a big factor and deceleration believe it or not. Those two things really have the biggest factor on your fuel economy, and saving in those areas, you can save up to 20-percent. On a typical month you might save a hundred dollars in gas.
SCRIPT: GM’s James Bell says before heading out on any road trip, make sure you have your vehicle stocked with some essential items?
CUT: (Bell) Bring along a safety kit with flares, reflectors and so forth. And secondly your cell phone. That’s a real big link to the outside world. And more importantly bring along that car/cell phone charger as well. And of course in GM vehicles you’ve got the OnStar system built into every car so one little push of a blue button, help is on the way.
