ANCHOR LEAD: Prices at the pump have many Americans rethinking the types of cars they are driving. But, if your life doesn’t fit into a mini hybrid of EV… Brian Osuch says there are other options to get you from point A to point B. (:59) SCRIPT: Zero-to-Sixty, I’m Brian Osuch. More and more Americans are giving up on gas guzzling SUVs and minivans and downsizing to more affordable vehicles. Jeffcars.com’s Jeff Fortson says some features explain the recent shift. CUT: (Fortson) If you look at the minivan segment, there’s not a vehicle in it that you can get a fuel efficient hybrid. Also, consumers are looking for style, and if you look at other segments, such as crossovers, you can find vehicles now that offer an emotional appeal to the consumer. SCRIPT: GM’s James Bell says full-size sedans are also making a resurgence and becoming more popular with consumers. CUT: (Bell) For me, the new Impala kind of brings back what Chevrolet once stood for… which was the everyman’s luxury car. When Impala was first introduced, it was a car that had a lot of style. I was a real statement piece, but done at a budget many Americans could afford. That has been completely recaptured with this new model. SCRIPT: For more information, log onto GM-dot-com. That’s Zero-to-Sixty from GM. I’m Brian Osuch.
