ANCHOR LEAD: It not only leaves fellow drivers in the dust… but often in awe. Now, automobile enthusiasts have another reason to be impressed by one sports car that has always been ahead of the pack. Brian Osuch has more. (:60) SCRIPT: Zero-to-Sixty, I’m Brian Osuch. The new Corvette Stingray is setting the benchmark for modern performance cars with its advanced design. GM’s James Bell says it will impress both inside and out. CUT: (Bell) The most surprising thing about the new Stingray is the inside of the car. This is a car that not only does what Corvette should in the driving perspective – in the design from the outside – it will turn heads. But, where you live with the car, it’s going to be a beautiful place to sit as well. SCRIPT: The 2014 Corvette Stingray is the most efficient sports car on the market and is expected to offer more than twenty-nine miles per gallon of gas. Something Edmunds-dot-com’s Michelle Krebs says motorists expect. CUT: (Krebs) We are now seeing a focus on fuel economy. All kinds of technologies are at work for improving fuel economy in all vehicles, including sports cars. Things like lightweight materials, smaller engines… but that can get out a little bit more horsepower and torque – improving fuel economy.
