IBM and USTA Captivate Tennis Fans with Immersive Second Screen Experience

IBM and United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced they are serving analytics, cloud computing, mobile and social technologies to 2013 US Open tennis fans, bringing them closer to the action on the courts while delivering real-time insights into match data that go beyond basic scores and stats.

More than 700,000 tennis fans will descend upon the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY to see the world's best tennis players compete in the 2013 US Open Championships. Millions of other passionate tennis fans around the world will watch the action on their TV, computer or mobile device. Whether they're sitting courtside or on their couch, US Open spectators will expect to enjoy an immersive, interactive and uninterrupted tournament experience. For over 20 years, IBM and the USTA have collaborated and combined their tech and tennis expertise to connect fans -- no matter where they're located -- to each serve, volley and point throughout every match.

The enriched and engaging digital US Open experience is made possible by a combination of analytics, cloud computing, mobile and social technologies from IBM that bring the action on the courts to the fans' fingertips and enable them to be their own virtual sports analysts by delivering real-time insights into match data that go beyond basic scores and stats and provide an even greater appreciation for the game of tennis.
