Kia Duo Honoured with Cars of The Year Award
The awards recognise the best new cars of 2013 to a readership actively shopping for a new vehicle in Australia's crowded and confusing new car market.
"When you factor in reliability, running costs, warranty, value and interior space … the Rio is arguably the best small car on the market," the magazine said. "Handling is excellent for a small car, as is ride comfort. Kia enlists local engineering input for its suspension and steering tuning, and it shows, especially on rough roads, where the Rio absorbs big hits with remarkable ease and comfort for a small car.
"The body feels solid and strong and it's also safe, with a five-star ANCAP rating."
For the Sorento, New Car Buyer magazine was fulsome with its praise of the family SUV's handling and the award-winning 2.2R diesel.
"Kia's Australian suspension tuning guru Graeme Gambold has delivered the best handling SUV in the class," the magazine's testers declared. "It (the 2.2R engine) pulls smoothly and easily from idle, with minimal lag and easy, effortless strength.
"The 2.2 has that old-time gravelly diesel note at idle and when crawling along in first gear, but at cruising speeds it's silent. The six-speed automatic is a happy match with the engine."
The Sorento was also named as Drive.com.au's Best SUV Over $40,000 for 2013, backing up its win from the previous year, while the new Cerato Koup was voted Australia's Sexiest Car by AutoChic.com.au's readers.
