Sant'Agata Bolognese/Silverstone, May 14, 2017

It has been a perfect weekend for Jonathan Cecotto and Vito Postiglione, who, after scoring their first success of the season on Saturday, have given an encore in Race 2 at Siverstone, thus becoming class leaders in the PRO category. The line-up of the team Imperiale Racing has conquered everything in England, during the second of the six rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The weekend began with a pole position obtained by the Italian driver; then there was the victory in Race 1 and today's race was marked by an impeccable race conduct by Cecotto, who started from the front row alongside the poleman Yuki Nemoto.

The Japanese driver maintained his leading position throughout his first driving stint. Then, the Brazilian Raphael Abbate took over the wheel of the car of VS Racing and maintained the leading position until 3 minutes before the end of the race, when Postiglione did a stunning overtake, which enabled him to get in the lead and to remain there until the end.

The podium was completed by the duo of ArtLine Team Georgia formed by the Austrian Gerhard Tweraser and the Russian Sergei Afanasiev. The latter was also the protagonist of a final head-to-head with Rik Breukers. The Dutchman finished in fourth position with the first car of GDL Racing whose cockpit was shared with Axcil Jefferies.

Loris Spinelli (Antonelli Motorsport) did an impeccable race: after starting from the back of the grid where he had slipped during the second qualifying session, he then managed to recover 25 positions and handed over the wheel to his teammate Mikaël Grenier while he was sixth, the Canadian driver then finished in fifth position.

Behind the duo of Leipert Motorsport Jan Kisiel-Seb Morris, Kikko Galbiati (new class leader) and Gianluca Giraudi (fourth in Q2) got a seventh place overall and scored their first win in the PRO-AM, again with a car of Antonelli Motorsport. The Polish drivers Andrej Lewandowski and Teodor Myszkowski finished immediately behind them and got the first place in the AM class and scored their third success, after the two wins conquered during the inaugural round at Monza, thus managing to increase their advantage in the championship.

In the Lamborghini Cup, after getting a third place in Race 1, the Portuguese driver of Autovitesse, Carlos Sarrea, scored his first success of the season.

Now, there will be a break of over a month: the next event is scheduled on June 24-25 at the French circuit of Paul Ricard

DRIVERS'S QUOTES

Vito Postiglione/Imperiale Racing (1st overall and in the PRO class): "Last year, here at Silverstone, I got a first and a second place. This weekend, I really could not ask for more. The team provided us a perfect car. Jonathan did an amazing job, despite being at his second experience behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo. I think he's demonstrating all his value".

Kikko Galbiati/Antonelli Motorsport (1st in the PRO-AM class): "After the two third places of Monza and yesterday's second place, the first victory has finally arrived. Giraudi was superb in qualifying and in the first race stint. He handed over the car to me in third position and I did the two other overtakes which allowed us to achieve this result, also thanks to the team which provided us with an impeccable car".

Teodor Myszkowski/VS Racing (1st in the AM class): "Yesterday, during the pit-stop, I had a problem with the safety belt which compromised the result of Race 1. Today, instead, everything worked perfectly. This is our third victory out of four races: a great result for this season start".

Carlos Sarrea/Autovitesse (1st in the Lamborghini Cup): "It was a particularly animated race. I'm happy to have scored this victory on a difficult circuit like that of Silverstone".
