The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe is back on track this weekend on the historic Nurburgring circuit. Up to 35 cars will line up on the starting grid with all titles still there for the taking. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will then head towards Sebring (USA) where on the 19/20 November the sixth round will be held during the World Finals week.
After Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard and Spa, the overall leader is the Finn Patrick Kujala. The Bonaldi Motorsport driver has scored six wins so far. A 34- point gap divides the leader from chasers Daniel Zampieri and Roman Mavlanov; the Italian/Russian Antonelli Motorsport duo, in their first Super Trofeo season, won the second race in Paul Ricard. Just two points behind is the Team Lazarus duo made up of Sergio Campana and Fabrizio Crestani, also runner up in the PRO Class behind Kujala.
After the P1 in Belgium in late July, Alberto Di Falco is determined to take a consecutive win in his car run by Raton Racing, that will also line up a second car in Germany for the Patrie Niederhauser/Edoardo Liberati pair. Liberati is the undisputed protagonist in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia where he won twice in China and Malaysia and is now second overall.
Also in the PRO Class is the Vincenzo Sospiri Racing pair, Kei Francesco Cozzolino and the Japanese Shinya Michimi, who scored several podium finishes this year. Veterans Alberto Cerqui and Giacomo Barri are also looking for a good result at Nurburgring at the wheel of their Imperiale Racing car. Another spotlight will be on the Leipert Motorsport duo, of Finn Jesse Anttila and Spaniard Isaac Tutumlu. Tutumlu recently scored an impressive P6 overall and SPX Class win in the 24hr of Barcelona, held at the beginning of September, with the German team's Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo 620-2.
In Barcelona along with Tutumlu was the Finn Mikko Eskelinen, who will race this weekend with his Dutch team-mate Kelvin Snoeks in the PRO-AM Class. Determined to defend his lead, Eskelinen is chased just one point behind by the Italian Antonelli Motorsport pair of Marco Moscato and Loris Spinelli, who were back on the top step of the podium in Spa Race 1 after having seized their first ever win in Silverstone.
The Artline Team Georgia driver Shota Abkhazava is the current AM Class leader. His task in Germany will be to increase his 17-point margin over the Swiss ark lneichen (Konrad Motorsport).
Andrea Palma and Carina Lima (Imperiale Racing) will be aiming to build their lead in the Gallardo AM Class. Runner up currently is the Porto Rican Ricardo Vera, who will share the wheel of the Bonaldi Motorsport car with Andres Josephsohn.
The weekend schedule includes two free practice sessions of one hour each on Friday 18 September. Qualifying is set for Saturday at 10.15 CET (two 15-minute sessions with a five minute pause between). Race One starts at 15.10 CET and will be over the usual 50-minute distance. The green light for Race Two is Sunday at 9.55.
