Sant’Agata Bolognese/Silverstone, May 10, 2017.
After only three weeks from the inaugural weekend in Monza, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe is heading to Silverstone. On May 12-14, the English circuit will be hosting the second of the six double rounds of the series, which, during the Italian race weekend, offered a great show, with a lot of protagonists and seven different top crews in the four categories.
The one-make series for Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeos has started again with many new features and a “generational change”. The current PRO class leaders are the two drivers of GDL Racing, the eighteen-year-old Dutchman Rik Breukers and the new entry Axcil Jefferies, 23-year-old Zimbabwean and at his debut in the continental series. Last March, the two drivers won the title of the Middle East Series and scored a victory in the inaugural race and a second place at the Monza circuit.
Immediately behind them by only 3 points is the Italian-Canadian duo of the team Antonelli Motorsport formed by Loris Spinelli and the rookie Mikaël Grenier, who finished first in Race 2 in Monza, after getting a third place on Saturday. With a second and a third place in the previous round, the Brazilian Raphael Abbate and the Japanese Yuki Nemoto will try to get more excellent results with the team VS Racing.
The new duo, formed by the expert Vito Postiglione and the seventeen-year-old Jonathan Cecotto, will be instead looking for a payback. The son of the former F.1 driver and champion on two wheels, Johnny Alberto, left everyone behind during the first round at the end of the second qualifying session. But a series of difficulties prevented the duo of  Imperiale Racing from getting the deserved results. As for Postiglione, it should be remembered that last year at Silverstone, he managed to score his first success in the one-make series for the cars of the House of Sant'Agata Bolognese.
On the 5.9 Km of the Northamptonshire circuit there will also be the leaders of the PRO-AM category, namely the other crew of VS Racing, formed by the German Christopher Dreyspring and the Chinese Ja Tong Liang, who made the best out of the Monza weekend and got two second places, whereas the two races were won respectively by Shota Abkhazava and Kelvin Snoeks (ArtLine Team Georgia) and the French crew of MN Development formed by Julien Briché and Jean-Laurent Navarro. Among the drivers that are worth keeping an eye on is also Kikko Galbiati, who scored two third places on his home track with a car of the team Antonelli Motorsport.
With two wins out of two races, the Poles Andrej Lewandowski and Teodor Myszkowski, who are in their first season with VS Racing (and in their second one in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe) are leading the standings in the AM class. Behind them by 11 points are Laurent Jenny and Cedric Leimer (Autovitesse).
Spotlight also on Antonios Vossos, who scored at Monza two pole positions, a second place and a win in Race 2 in the Lamborghini Cup with the colors of the team Target Racing. The Greek will race in the AM class, as well as Sri Lankan driver Dilantha Malagamuwa (who has already participated in the past editions of the Asian series), who got respectively a first and a second place with GDL Racing in the same class.

The first of the two 50-minute races (with a rolling start and mandatory pit-stop) will kick off on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. (4:05 p.m. CEST), whereas Race 2 is scheduled on Sunday at 11:35 a.m. (12:35 CEST). The two qualifying sessions, each of which lasting 20 minutes, are scheduled on Saturday and will define the starting grids. Instead, the two one-hour free practice sessions will be held on Friday. Both races will be broadcasted in live streaming at http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/live-streaming.
