Brexit negotiations must begin immediately to avoid uncertainty for Europe: EPP Group Chair Manfred Weber

Release Date: 24 Jun 2016

EPP Group Chair Manfred Weber presses for immediate negotiations for the UK to leave the EU. He made the statement after British Prime Minister David Cameron said he would leave the task of invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, setting off the process of exiting the EU, to his successor after he resigns in October. He also rejects calls for other referendums on EU membership, saying the EU must work together to reform, not to destroy Europe.
