Today, the sixth and final round of the three continental series of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, scheduled at the “Ricardo Tormo” circuit in Valencia, has opened the long weekend of the 2016 World Final that will kick off tomorrow.

LIND IS THE EUROPEAN CHAMPION IN THE PRO
On the Spanish circuit, the titles at stake in the European series have been decided. In the PRO class, Dennis Lind managed to conquer the title after an exciting fight with two other opponents. The 23-year-old Dane of the team Raton Racing was crowned as a champion thanks to the victory (the fifth of the season) scored in Race 1  and the fifth place obtained in Race 2. The Italian Vito Postiglione, instead, got two second places with the car of Imperiale racing and the Latvian Harald Schlegelmilch (Artline Team Georgia) took the bottom step of the podium in both races.

DOVIZIOSO WINS AT HIS DEBUT IN THE PRO-AM
The last win of the season was scored by Loris Spinelli who won Race 2, whereas the duo of Bonaldi Motorsport, formed by Adrian Amstutz and Patrick Kujala, secured the title in the PRO-AM, the same class as Andrea Dovizioso who conquered the victory at his debut in the one-make series for Huracán Super Trofeos. The Ducati rider and MotoGP star, after finishing fourth in Race 1, scored a victory, thanks to a tenacious conduct which allowed him to finish sixth overall.

Debut and victory in the AM for the 18-year-old of the team Antonelli Motorsport, Kikko Galbiati, who prevailed authoritatively in the morning race. Behind him was the Swiss Nouri Shahin who won the class title  thanks to the success obtained in Race 2, while the champion of the  Lamborghini Cup  was the Dutchman Gerard Van der Horst (Van der Horst Motorsport), who got two wins in Valencia.

DOUBLE VICTORY OF OCHIAI-YAZID AND RICHARD ANTINUCCI IN THE ASIA AND NORTH AMERICA SERIES
The last two races of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia and North America have also taken place today on the same grid.

In the Asia series, the newly-crowned champions Toshiyuki Ochiai and Afiq Yazid  prevailed in both races. The  Italian-American of the  team Change Racing, Richard Antinucci, scored two victories in the races of the North America series , whereas the PRO champion, Shinya Michimi (Prestige Performance), got a third and a second place respectively.

DRIVERS’ QUOTES

Dennis Lind #60 - Raton Racing (Europe PRO champion): “This has been a special day for me. I remember the day of my debut in the championship I made a promise hard to keep: that I would win the title. Today, I’m a champion and this makes me happy and proud of my team”.

Andrea Dovizioso #100 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse (first place in Race 2 PRO-AM Europe): “Starting in eighth position made a difference. Getting a good result during qualifying will be my goal also for tomorrow and Sunday’s World Final. This afternoon’s race was really beautiful. During the driver change, I even managed to reach a PRO driver, who was driving more slowly than me. But overtaking is really difficult, what’s more the sun was low and it kept me from seeing well. Repelling the attacks of those behind me wasn’t easy. Anyway, it was a great experience with a wonderful car. My thanks goes also to the team, which helped me a lot during the short time we had at our disposal, and to the three Lamborghini drivers: Andrea Fontana, with whom I had to fight in Race 1, Marco Mapelli and Riccardo Agostini”.

Adrian Amstutz #34 - Bonaldi Motorsport (PRO-AM champion Europe  together with Patrick Kujala): “It was a very hard-fought victory. In Race 1, we had to withdraw because of an incident; at that moment I thought everything was over. However, things changed for the better… I’m happy and also really excited”.

Nouri Shahin #4 - Leipert Motorsport (AM champion Europe). “This has been my first season in the  Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo; a fantastic season during which everything has been new to me, both the car and racetracks. Apart from Silverstone, where I got no points at all, I kept improving and in the end, I managed to get this title. I really couldn’t ask for more”.

Gerard Van der Horst #98 - Van der Horst Motorsport (Lamborghini Cup champion Europe). “This morning’s first race was very hard, in particular when I had to fight against Richards and Metzger. But in the end, the two wins of today have allowed me to conquer the title in the Lamborghini Cup, thus celebrating the success of the whole team, thanks also to the second place of my teammate Van Deyzen. Not bad, if we consider that this has been our first season in the Super Trofeo. The next appointment is for next year”.
