Geo−blocking, future of Europe, future EU Parliament, V−P Czarnecki fired

Release Date: 08 Feb 2018
At its latest plenary, the European Parliament approved a limited ban on geo-blocking of cross-border online shopping within the EU, with a possible expansion after a two-year review. Ahead of next year’s European Elections, Parliament also voted to reduce its seats post-Brexit and redistribute some of the UK seats to other Member States. It also backed the ‘’Spitzenkandidat’’ process, where the major party groups nominate the Commission President candidates. And Parliament voted to remove Ryszard Czarnecki as Parliament Vice-President after comparing his Polish colleague Róża Thun to a Nazi collaborator. Thun had criticised the current Polish government, led by the Law and Justice Party of which Czarnecki is a member, of heading towards dictatorship.
