NFR Kicks Off in Las Vegas with Round-One Record

LAS VEGAS -- The 2015 edition of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER got off to a historic start in Las Vegas on Dec. 3 with a new record set by Trevor Brazile. The 22-time world champion won the tie-down roping with a 6.8-second run -- the fastest Round 1 time in WNFR history. Brazile set the record with a little help from his No. 1 sorrel horse, Deputy. Brazile has now won a record 60 National Finals go-rounds in tie-down roping, team roping and steer roping.

The 57th annual NFR runs Dec. 3-12 in Las Vegas, with nighlty performances at the Thomas & Mack Center. The action will be televised live and in HD on CBS Sports Net (DirecTV channel 221 and DISH Network channel 158) from 7-10 p.m. PT.  The NFR, considered the world’s premier rodeo, features 10 straight days of the best in rodeo competition, with a total of 120 contestants competing every night in seven events, including bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Many NFR-related events will take place throughout Las Vegas during the 10-day competition, including contestant autograph signings, after-parties and a Downtown Hoedown. The Cowboy Christmas Gift Show features more than 400 vendors from across the U.S. and Canada and is open to the public with free admission daily, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 3–12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Halls.
