LAS VEGAS and PRIMM, Nev. - The 2016 Polaris RZR Mint 400 presented by BFGoodrich Tires March 9 with the 4-Wheel Parts Mint 400 Vehicle Parade. Spectators lined the streets throughout the 10-mile trek down Las Vegas Boulevard. Led by 2016 Mint 400 Grand Marshall Rod Hall in his legendary ‘69 Ford Bronco built by Bill Stroppe, racers started from the TaylorMade Golf Experience just south of the Strip and ended Downtown on Fremont Street where the Mint 400 pre-race festivities take place. The race, which has a long history in Las Vegas, took place on March 12 in Primm, Nevada.
Some of the notable personalities who have competed in the Mint 400: Indianapolis 500 winners Parnelli Jones, Al Unser, Rick Mears and Rodger Ward; off-road champions Mickey Thompson, Ivan Stewart, Jack Flannery, Walker Evans; international off road competitor, Rod Hall; power boat champion Bill Muncey; actors James Garner and Steve McQueen; comedian Mort Sahl; astronaut Gordon Cooper.
There was no fear and loathing in southern Nevada this Saturday as the famous Mint 400 off-road race sped into Primm, Nevada just south of Las Vegas. Fans from across the nation came to Primm to see the dust fly as off-road racer compete in the race made famous by writer Hunter S. Thompson.
