ANCHOR LEAD: One of the most common conditions affecting aging men is enlarged prostate. But now comes news of a phase three clinical trial yielding promising results. (:60) SCRIPT: Newsbreak, I'm Sean Casey. Good news for men suffering from enlarged prostate, a chronic condition affecting millions of men sixty and older. NX-1207, a medicine being developed by Nymox Pharmaceutical, has just met an important milestone in phase three clinical trials. Patients in the studies were given a single painless injection of either the NYMOX drug, or of a placebo. Now, up to 5 years later, the majority of participants who received the NYMOX drug reported a significant improvement in their enlarged prostate symptoms. This included less urgent and difficult urination, and fewer sleep problems. In addition, patients exhibited no signs of drug-related side effects or toxicity often seen with older medications. This patient received the Nymox drug. CUT: (Patient) And then all of a sudden I was normal. I wasn't getting up at night. It was like it was twenty-some years ago. SCRIPT: More information is available at Nymox dot com. That's Newsbreak from Washington. I'm Sean Casey.
