ANCHOR LEAD: Like a knight in shining armor… on wheels, a man comes to the aid of a motorist in serious trouble and rescues him with the touch of a little red button. Brian Osuch has more. (:60) SCRIPT: Technology Now, I'm Brian Osuch. Everyday OnStar receives hundreds of calls from subscribers who request emergency assistance on behalf of someone else in need of help. To honor these people, OnStar created a Good Samaritan recognition program and Tyler Andrews was chosen as the 2012 winner. OnStar's Cathy Bishop. CUT: (Bishop) We chose from a pool of calls which really rose to the top. We chose Tyler. Tyler was involved in a situation where he was able to help a family in need, where the father in the vehicle was experiencing a medical emergency. SCRIPT: Tyler, who was also a victim of a serious hit-and-run accident in 2008, says OnStar saved him as well. CUT: (Andrews) When the vehicle that I was driving in Houston was hit by drunk driver, I was flipped in the vehicle about seven times. As soon as OnStar got on the line and had emergency vehicles there, I knew from that point forward that I had a guardian angel watching over me.
