.mp3 audio package
ANCHOR LEAD: It may seem hard to believe, but many people don't use all their vacation days. Researchers found that last year while three in four Americans earned time off, forty-percent left some of that time unused. Brian Osuch has more on the importance of a family getaway. (:60) SCRIPT: Lifestyles, I'm Brian Osuch. Last year the American workforce left a total of 429 million vacation days untouched. That's something that doesn't sit well with the Mayor of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, David Wear… CUT: (Wear) We're an advocate for the family vacation. We encourage everybody to go somewhere, it's so important. SCRIPT: Wear says this time away with your family makes for lasting memories, especially if you're doing something fun… CUT: (Wear) New at Pigeon Forge, we've got Dollywood FireChaser Express – it's a rollercoaster. We also have the Smokey Mountain Alpine Coaster, which is a luge-type ride where you weave in and out of the trees. Also at Dollywood, I'll just mention that the Dollywood DreamMore Resort is under construction. It's three-hundred-plus rooms, so that's going to be a beautiful addition to an already wonderful theme park. SCRIPT: But what about getting closer to mother nature… CUT: (Wear) If you want to enjoy nature, enjoy the rivers and the walking trails The Great Smokey Mountains National Park is right outside the backdoor of Pigeon Forge.
