Take Time to Vacation: The Importance of Family Trips
It may seem hard to believe, but many Americans don't use all their earned vacation days. Researchers found that last year while three in four American workers earned time off, 40 percent left some of that time unused, totaling 429 million untouched vacation days in 2013. A lot of it simply comes down to poor planning or uncertainty of where to go and what to do.
But as summer nears, now is the time to think about where your family should make some memories. Family vacations have a lasting impact on children and adults – trips can enrich relationships, shrink stress, and make everyone remember the fun of play.
David Wear, the mayor of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, talks about the importance of family vacations and why Pigeon Forge should be on the list of your summer trips. He also goes over some of Pigeon Forge's special attractions, including the Dollywood theme park, the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, and WonderWorks, which includes the new Astronaut Training Challenge.
