European finance ministers including Germany´s Wolfgang Schäuble joined with MEPs to call for more action to fight tax avoidance. They came to lend their support to the European Parliament´s special committee investigating the Panama Papers scandal. Committee chair Werner Langen of the EP Group says more transparency, including an EU-wide Common Corporate Consolidated Tax Base, would help national governments fight the loss of up to 70 billion euros annually from tax avoidance.
