With the upcoming European Parliament elections, 2024 is a crucial year in determining the EU’s direction for the next five years, and beyond. Around 450 million EU citizens are eligible to vote in the elections which will be held between June 6-9. 27 countries will go to the polls, and 720 MEPs will be elected to the European Parliament.
For this reason, we’ve launched our latest ‘pop-up channel’ on thenewsmarket.com – the EUNewsMarket. It’s a dedicated hub of European Union-related news, verified information, features, images, live streams and video footage.
It’s open to not only EU institutions, but also associations, NGOs, corporates, political groups, lobby groups and PR agencies who would like to share relevant content with the media.
In addition, our Brussels-based sister company, Headline NFP, has launched the new ‘Electi Facts: Euro 2024’ site. This project, which is funded by the European Media and Information Fund (EMIF), is completely run by journalists. The goal is to help filter out misinformation in news coverage of the second biggest election in the world.
In the year that about half of our planet's population will get to vote, correct news coverage will be more important than ever.

EMIF pursues objectives of public interest and provides grants, on a competitive basis, to researchers, fact-checkers, not-for-profits and other public interest-oriented organisations working on disinformation research and strengthening media literacy and fact-checking.
