VOICE-OVER SAYING (ENGLISH): EN - The fight against the radicalisation and recruitment of European citizens by terrorist organisations is the subject of an important vote today in the European Parliament. The “Dati” report has been changed in many ways after having been criticized for its excessive security approach. FR - La lutte contre la radicalisation et le recrutement d’européens par des organisations terroristes est aujourd’hui au cœur d’un vote important au parlement européen. Le rapport « Dati » a été retravaillé sur plusieurs points après avoir été critiqué pour son approche sécuritaire. 12. ANA GOMES (S&D SPOKEPERSON ON RADICALISATION) SAYING (ENGLISH): EN - “If you see the initial version of Ms Dati's report and the text that was adopted, there is a huge difference which is the result of a joint effort.” FR - Si l’on regarde le rapport initial de Madame Dati et le texte qui a finalement été adopté, on constate une grande différence qui est le résultat d’un effort commun. 13. VOICE-OVER SAYING (ENGLISH): EN - The will of the Socialists & Democrats is to tackle the issue at the source through social integration measures. CHRISTINE REVAULT D'ALLONNES-BONNEFOY (S&D MEP) SAYING (FRENCH): “First, we have to focus on education, take an active interest in these young people. If they looked for solutions in these kinds of radical movements, that means that there was something lacking, or that we didn’t bring the right answers to the difficulties they were facing. VOICE-OVER SAYING: EN - Other measures are covered, such as investing in intelligence services to better detect radicalisation on the internet and in jails. National efforts are also needed to better share information between governments. Des efforts nationaux sont également nécessaires pour mieux partager l’information entre gouvernements. 18. ANA GOMES (S&D SPOKEPERSON ON RADICALISATION) SAYING (ENGLISH): EN - “We, of course, try to find the right balance between security and the rights and guaranties of the citizens, because otherwise we would be playing into the hands of the terrorists, which is exactly what they want us to put in question: our freedoms, our guaranties, the privacy of citizens, our way of life in open and democratic societies.” FR - Nous essayons de trouver l’équilibre entre les mesures de sécurité et les droits des citoyens. Autrement, nous jouerions le jeu des terroristes car c’est exactement ce qu’ils veulent que nous mettions en question : nos libertés, nos garanties, notre vie privée, notre façon de vivre dans une société ouverte et démocratique. 19. VOICE-OVER SAYING (ENGLISH): EN - In times of crisis, it is crucial not to sacrifice this principle or to fall in the trap of mixing issues.
