AISSATOU DIALLO (GUINEAN ACTIVIST FOR THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST FGM) SAYING (FRENCH): “There are many children in Africa who suffer and who are every minute at risk of being subjected to excision, I am also fighting for those children, here within the community but also in my native country.” 6. CUTAWAY: WIDE SHOTS OF THE S&D GROUP MEETING, AISSATOU DIALLO AND HER DAUGHTERS ATTENDING THE MEETING AND THE MEP MARIE ARENA 7. AISSATOU DIALLO (GUINEAN ACTIVIST FOR THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST FGM) SAYING (FRENCH): “I wanted to thank all the people that are helping us, because they are allowing me to fulfil my dream: this dream would be to be able one day to say loud and clear that I am Diallo Aissatou and that I am being amongst the last women who have endured this harmful practice” 8. CUTAWAY: MARIE ARENA APPLAUDING AT THE END OF MRS DIALLO’S SPEECH AND TALKING WITH HER AFTER THE MEETING 9. MARIE ARENA (S&D MEP, BE) SAYING (FRENCH): “When there is an international day it enables to raise awareness of the whole population. Today Europeans still don’t know that this practice exists across Europe, they still don’t know that today over 140 million of women are concerned throughout the world and so it enables us not only to shed light on this reality, this atrocity, but also to promote the measures that Europe can lead.” 10. CUTAWAY: AISSATOU DIALLO AND HER DAUGHTERS AND MARIE ARENA SHOWING THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST FGM 11. MARIE ARENA (S&D MEP, BE) SAYING (FRENCH): “The first measure that we have is to criminalize excision all across Europe. The second tool are measures of information and measures of access to this information, by the Medical Corps for example, and the third measure is the protection of female asylum seekers who are likely to be sent back to their native country where genital mutilation is practiced.” 10. CUTAWAY: MARIE ARENA TALKING TO ONE OF MRS DIALLO’S DAUGHTERS
