MARIA ARENA (S&D MEP, BE) SAYING (FRENCH): “We don’t want this directive to be withdrawn by the Commission because the message that it would give would be a negative one. An important work has been achieved by the Parliament regarding female workers’ protection. These workers are pregnant, breast-feeding or giving birth. There was a really great work achieved. This work hasn’t been heard at the Council level, which means that there was a real blocking from the Council so there was somehow a denial of democracy.” 4. CUTAWAY: MARIA ARENA READING DOCUMENTS 5. MARIA ARENA (S&D MEP, BE) SAYING (FRENCH): “If the Italian presidency considers that it is a subject that is important for its presidency, it will put it on the agenda and will therefore force the Commission to come up with a directive as well as the other member states so that they can see what are the compromised zones that can be found. It is actually one of the reasons why the person that is taking care of this file in the parliament is Italian, Alessandra Moretti, who will use this advantage and link with the Italian presidency to make this case a priority. ” 6.
