ANCHOR LEAD: From slips and falls, to burglary and theft, Brian Osuch shares advice, tips and resources to protect your small business from property and general liability insurance claims. (:60) SCRIPT: Newsbreak, I'm Brian Osuch. Four out of 10 small business owners will likely experience a property and/or liability claim in the next 10 years. John Kinney, Chief Claim Officer for The Hartford says there are a few common claims including burglary and theft, water and freezing and wind and hail. But those aren't the most costly claims… CUT: (Kinney) The most expensive claims are around reputational harm – when companies may be disparaging a competitor or putting something on their website or advertising that's not truthful, vehicle accidents and fires. SCRIPT: Stephanie Bush, Senior Vice President of Small Commercial Insurance at The Hartford shares three steps owners can take to prevent these claims. CUT: (Bush) The first one, make sure that you prepare and take cautionary steps to minimize a claim. The second one is to make sure that you are adequately protected. Work with your local independent agent, and they will make sure that you have the right protection. And thirdly to prevail; have your door back open to get back in business and serve your local community. SCRIPT: For more information go to thehartford.com/losscontrol.
