What Defines You?

Digital Audio
ANCHOR LEAD: After battling bacterial meningitis and having both legs amputated below the knee, what did one U.S. snowboarder do? She continued to follow her dreams… with a little help along the way. Brian Osuch has her story. (:60) SCRIPT: Lifestyles, I'm Brian Osuch. Amy Purdy just came back from the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games with a bronze medal in snowboard cross and is now a fan favorite on Dancing with the Stars. This world-class athlete wants to be known for her achievements… CUT: (Purdy) What defines me, is focusing on my abilities and what I can do versus focusing on maybe what people would consider my disabilities or the things that you can't do. SCRIPT: And now she wants others to share their stories… CUT: (Purdy) What I'm doing with The Hartford is a campaign called What Defines You. People can find out more information if they go to WhatDefinesYou.com. It makes you ask that question. Everytime somebody does a share from that page, whether it's Twitter or Facebook, The Hartford will donate a dollar to the Paralympic Committee. SCRIPT: Donations like this will help future athletes with physical disabilities reach their dreams. CUT: (Purdy) I would not be where I am at today if it weren't for the sponsors who have helped me get here. SCRIPT: For more, visit WhatDefinesYou.com. That's Lifestyles from The Hartford.
