LEG 6 PREVIEW
This is a coastal leg with some good offshore options to consider. Whatever happens, as the race arrives in the great sailing city of Newport for the first time ever, looking good will be very important to most of the sailors, maybe even more so for Team Alvimedica (USA/TUR) coming back to their home-port.

After leaving Itajaí, the weather is stormy and variable. There are warm currents close to the coast. Land breeze is a good feature at night in Brazil but it's not constant.
Once in the southeasterly trades, performance is key before another Doldrums passage and the final Equator crossing for this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race.

From Miami latitude, just after the mythical Bermuda Triangle, available options are using the the Gulf Stream as a conveyor belt and staying offshore to play the weather systems until Rhode Island.
