The NewsMarket was founded in 2000 to harness the Internet's potential to improve the distribution and acquisition of raw video and other multimedia content. The resulting service - this Web site - incorporated input on technical and editorial matters from hundreds of newsroom professionals and went live in March 2003.

Since then we have continued to improve the site's functionality and ease of use and to incorporate the latest technology to make acquiring video news content even more efficient.

In early 2006, we introduced enterprise-class search technology to improve the speed and ease of content searches. We also introduced RSS feeds so that news professionals could receive our new content alerts directly into their newsreaders.

In late 2006, we launched our next generation Web site, leveraging advanced Web technologies, improving the user experience and incorporating a streamlined check-out process.

Technology and the news media have been playing hopscotch for decades: the shift from film to video, the advent of the satellite, the penetration of broadband and now the search and online video revolutions have brought about major changes in the industry.

You can leverage these dramatic changes with The NewsMarket, saving time and money!
