Encourage all 18 year−olds to travel the continent free by train to experience Europe

Release Date: 04 Oct 2016
The Chairman of the EPP Group comments on the idea of offering every 18 year-old a free pass on the InterRail programme that could be the key to creating a positive perception of the EU among younger generations. Since its creation, InterRail Passes are synonymous with borderless travel. For the younger generations it is a symbol of unlimited rail travel across Europe as it provides access to interconnected railways offering the opportunity to travel in 30 different countries. The aim of offering every 18 year-old a free pass is that participants will feel more European after coming back from their trips to their home countries, says EPP Group Chair Manfred Weber, as it can be a gateway to exploring the geographical, historical and cultural richness of Europe at first-hand.
