Many multi-national companies artificially shift their profits to low tax countries. The European Parliament will be voting in July on a new law that would shed light on these tax avoidance practices by obliging companies to provide tax information publicly. The EPP Group wants an exemption for European companies operating in non-EU countries. For this to apply, they would need to prove that publishing information would harm them commercially vis-à-vis their competitors who do not have to publish the information.
