Bonaldi Motorsport took a double win in the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The winners of the second of the two Spa races were Patrick Kujala and Fredrik Blomstedt. The victory was sealed, after a collision between Blomstedt and Lucas Mauron brought out the red flags just eight minutes before the race was scheduled to end. Several track marshals were also involved in the incident, a number of whom were promptly transported to hospital for medical checks. Both Blomstedt, who hit the barriers, and the marshals were later declared out of danger.
In Belgium, the PRO pair formed by Blomstedt and Kujala shared their victory with teammates, James Pull and Kelvin Snoeks, who won Race 1 on Friday. Securing third place, the Imperiale Racing crew consisting of Vito Postiglione and Karol Basz also took the standings lead, finishing the second race of the weekend just behind the duo formed by Luca Rettenbacher and Lucas Mauron (MSG Motorsport). Simon Larsson and Dennis Lind won the PRO-AM class, having also taken pole position in the Target Racing machine. Andrej Lewandowski and August MacBeth (VS Racing) scored another victory in the AM class, while Joseph Collado (AGS Events) took a double win in the Lamborghini Cup.
Light rain affected the early laps of the race, having also forced the race start to take place behind the safety car, with several teams changing their strategy at the last minute, gambling on the changeable weather conditions to make their tyre choices. Lind immediately took the lead and maintained his position until the pit-stop window opened, when his teammate Larsson took over the car.
After starting on the second row of the grid, an excellent first stint from Kujala, saw the young Finn challenge for the lead. However the attack was short-lived, as the field shook down after the pit-stop window, and Blomstedt claimed the position. Following a ferocious battle with Lucas Mauron, Blomstedt went on to take the lead and ultimately the victory, despite a race stopping crash.
Vito Postiglione also made a strong comeback, gaining third place after getting the better of Gerhard Tweraser. Tweraser had taken over the Konrad Motorsport car, following a superb drive from Axcil Jefferies. The battles were halted prematurely however, as the accident between Blomstedt and Mauron stopped the race, freezing the classification on the previous lap.
At the red flag, Daniel Zampieri, who had taken over the wheel from Giacomo Altoè in the first of the Antonelli Motorsport cars, was fifth. A position that saw Altoè fall from the top of the driver classifications.
Larsson, who grabbed sixth, was able to celebrate his first victory in the PRO-AM class with Dennis Lind. In the same class, Emanuele Zonzini and Lorenzo Bontempelli (Iron Lynx) finished second, while Riccardo Agostini and Amir Krenzia took third place with Antonelli Motorsport.
In the AM class, VS Racing scored a double win with August MacBeth and Andrej Lewandowski, taking their fourth victory this year, after that of yesterday and two at Silverstone earlier in the year. This victory also allowed Lewandowski to remain at the top of the AM standings. Second and third place were taken respectively by the pair of Dörr Motorsport formed by Manuel Lauck and Florian Scholze and Glauco Solieri (Antonelli Motorsport).
Joseph Collado also scored a double win this weekend, taking the top step of the podium twice in Lamborghini Cup. Having chalked up four victories thus far this season, the Frenchman goes into the next round within striking distance of the championship leader Gerard Van der Horst (Van der Horst Motorsport), who finished second, ahead of his teammate William Van Deyzen in Race 2.
The next event will be held on September 15-16 at the Nürburgring, which will host the penultimate round of the series, before the final round of the European series and World Finals at Vallelunga, scheduled in mid-November.

Patrick Kujala/Bonaldi Motorsport (1st overall and PRO): "It was a very eventful race that started in the rain. When the track started to improve, I managed to gain some positions. We made an excellent pit-stop and Fredrik took the lead and maintained his position until the accident occurred".
Dennis Lind/Target Racing (1st PRO-AM): " I started from pole with dry tires. Obviously, I was very cautious, especially in the early laps, when the track conditions were still difficult. I managed to stay ahead and at the end Larsson did a fantastic job".
Andrej Lewandowski/VS Racing (1st AM): "I'm very happy with this weekend. In the early laps I lost some positions, which I gradually recovered by lapping faster and faster. Now, I am still leading the standings and will try to defend this record at the Nürburgring".
Joseph Collado/AGS Events (1st Lamborghini Cup): "I am pleased to have taken this second win, which allowed me to get closer to Van der Horst in the championship and continue to occupy second place".
