EU Recovery Plan: Solidarity is back

Release Date: 28 May 2020

The EU’s proposed €750 billion Recovery Plan will help jump-start Europe’s economy after the pandemic and prevent a lost generation of youth, says the EPP Group. As the European Commission presented its proposed plan to the European Parliament on Wednesday, the Group said Parliament must play a key role in shaping the Recovery Plan and the long-term EU budget. The budget must support both traditional and future-oriented sectors, from farmers and infrastructure to digitalisation and research. The EPP Group wants the budget to be larger and financed in part by EU revenue-raising, such as digital or carbon taxes.
