Release Date: 25 Nov 2019   |   Martorell
  • Front-wheel drive Tarraco brings together turbocharged 1.5 litre 150PS petrol engine with seven-speed automatic gearbox
  • New combination makes brand’s largest SUV an even more compelling option in the competitive segment
  • Introduction expands the SUV’s potential in the fleet market and gives an option for those that don’t require all-wheel drive technology
Martorell, 25 November 2019 - SEAT is once again expanding its vehicle offering, helping grow its position in the market and increase the options open to consumers with the introduction of the front-wheel drive Tarraco SUV combined with its advanced DSG automatic transmission.

Until now SEAT’s largest SUV has only been available either in front-wheel drive guise when mated to a manual gearbox, or in 4Drive all-wheel drive guise when mated to a DSG automatic transmission, but the introduction of the 1.5 TSI 150PS DSG Front-wheel drive changes that. The vehicle will help shake up the market, spreading the Tarraco’s appeal to fleets and markets where 4Drive all-wheel drive technology isn’t as critical.

The new front-wheel drive Tarraco combines a 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum power output of 150PS between 5,000 and 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 250Nm between 1,500 and 3,500rpm. Combined with the advanced seven-speed DSG automatic transmisison, the Tarraco can reach 100km/h in just 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 198km/h.

With CO2 emissions of 160-181 g/km based on the WLTP test cycle and fuel consumption of 7.1-8.0 litres/100km, the big brother in SEAT’s SUV line-up becomes an even more competitive option, without compromising any of its dynamic ability.

With both Style and Xcellence trim levels available initially, and five- and seven-seat options open, customers can match the performance, practicality and style attributes they need to meet their lifestyle.

The Tarraco, developed at SEAT’s Martorell facilities and produced in Wolfsburg, has contributed to the brand’s increased worldwide presence, and the family continues to grow. The introduction of this front-wheel drive, DSG model, will be followed by the introduction of an FR trim early next year and the launch of a plug-in hybrid variant in the second half of 2020.
