Sixteen years after its Sydney Olympic launch, content agency TheNewsMarket has relaunched its global sports channel ahead of the Rio Olympics. The channel is used by more than 36,000 registered news organizations in over 180 countries and offers free content to sports journalists and media outlets.

The new sports channel currently distributes content from some of the biggest sports brands in the world, including adidas, Fila, Puma, Reebok and New Balance, as well as major sports associations such as UEFA. The channel currently hosts more than 1,600 stories and nearly 11,500 multi-media assets, and is used by top media outlets such as the BBC, ITV, La Gazzetta and France 24.

Matthew Thomson, the Managing Director of TheNewsMarket, commented: “The Sydney Olympics is where it all begun for TheNewsMarket, distributing Olympic content for Coca Cola and BHP. We have worked with a whole host of organisations at every Olympics since and as the company has evolved over the past 16 years, so has the scope and outreach of our sports channel. This relaunch ahead of the Games in Rio, marks a very exciting moment in the company’s history and comes at a time when the journalist demand for quality video sports content has never been higher.”

The channel can be accessed by going to thenewsmarket.com/sports and will feature content on the major sporting events taking place throughout the summer, including the European Championships, Wimbledon and the Olympics.
