Matt Rutherford Arrives in Annapolis

Still image
Matt Rutherford smiles, caught up in the celebration and reverie, as he listens to speakers congratulate him for his courage and accomplishment. Still barefoot, Matt has just stepped off his boat, Saint Brendan, in Annapolis for the first time in over 10 months after completing his solo, non-stop voyage around both North & South America. Matt left Annapolis in June of 2011 on this historic 23,000 mile journey to raise awareness and funds for the Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating (CRAB). CRAB is a nonprofit sailing program for people with disabilities. Matt's motivation for the trip is to show people, particularly those with disabilities, that there are no limits to what can be accomplished in life. Left to right are: Lance Hinrichs, President of CRAB, Don Backe, Executive Director of CRAB, Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen, Matt Rutherford, Maryland First Lady Katie O'Malley and her son. Speaking is Gary Jobson, President of US Sailor and renowned sailor. For more info visit www.CrabSailing.org. Photo by Mark Duehmig
