Giacomo Altoè and Daniel Zampieri were again among the protagonists of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The pair of the Antonelli Motorsport team, who had not taken a podium since the May’s Silverstone round, left everyone behind in the second race of the fifth round held at the Nürburgring. This was the second victory of the season for them, and the third for Altoè, who had also won at Monza and remains second in the PRO classification, with a 10-point gap from Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione. In the PRO-AM, the duo of the Target Racing team, formed by Dennis Lind and Simon Larsson, took another victory, after the one scored at Spa. In Germany, the duo of VS Racing, formed by the leader Andrej Lewandowski and Philipp Wlazik achieved a double win in the AM category. Thanks to his third victory (after the ones scored at Silverstone and Misano), Gerard Van der Horst managed to consolidate his top position in the Lamborghini Cup standings.
All the titles are still to be awarded in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and everything is postponed to the final round that will take place in Mid-November at Vallelunga. If Vito Postiglione and Karol Basz consolidated their leadership in the PRO class, by securing their fourth seasonal victory yesterday, Altoé and Zampieri responded with amazing results in Race 2. After starting from the pole position, Basz remained in the lead during the first “stint” and was always followed by Zampieri, but the pit-stop phase was decisive. It was then that Postiglione, after taking over the Imperiale Racing car from the Polish driver, was slowed down in his return lap by some lapped drivers; with the result that, after the pit-stops, Altoé found himself in the lead (even if by only a few meters) and managed to keep his position until the checkered flag. Behind them came Niels Lagrange, who had taken over the car of Leipert Motorsport from Frederik Schandorff, and finished third. Fourth place went to Joffrey De Narda and Kikko Galbiati (Antonelli Motorsport), who claimed second place in Race 1.
The Scandinavian pair formed by Lind and Larsson took fifth place overall and first in the PRO-AM class. Behind them finished the duo of VS Racing composed by August MacBeth and Takashi Kasai. Thanks to a third-place finish in the same category, Emanuele Zonzini and Lorenzo Bontempelli scored their sixth consecutive podium and seventh overall with the car of Iron Lynx, thus shortening the gap with the leaders Loris Spinelli and Juan Perez. After winning Race 1, the crew of Antonelli Motorsport finished sixth, gaining nine points in the championship standings.
In the AM category, the German Philipp Wlazik and Andrej Lewandowski took a double win. The Polish driver of VS Racing is now one step away from the title, with a 24-point lead over Florian Scholze and Manuel Lauck (Dörr Motorsport), who arrived twice second at the Nürburgring. On the podium was also Davide Roda (on his return after skipping the previous round at Spa), the fastest in qualifying and in the lead until the pit-stops.
In Lamborghini Cup, chances to win the championship title are now very high for Gerard Van Der Horst, who claimed his third victory of the year. The podium was completed by Oliver Engelhardt (Dörr Motorsport) and Tim Richards (MTech).
Now there will be a two-month break and then the final round that will took place at Vallelunga in the same week as the 2018 World Final.
