A deal is a deal for European Parliament President

The EPP Group is pressing other mainstream parties to stick to an agreement that they all support its candidate Antonio Tajani to be the new European Parliament President, alternating with the S&D’s Martin Schulz. Group Chairman Manfred Weber says abandoning the deal would empower populists and extremists in Parliament, but he is also leaving the door open to cooperation.
