How Can Small and Medium Enterprises Power Europe's Recovery?

Release Date: 14 Apr 2013
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are an important growth factor of the European economy. The European Commission estimates that more than 99% of all European businesses are, in fact, SMEs, providing two out of three of the private sector jobs and contributing to more than half of the total value-added created by businesses in the EU. Competitiveness, red tape and lack of venture capital are a few of the issues that SMEs are facing in the EU today.

EPP TV organised a debate that tackles how the EU can and should leverage the power of SMEs to drive the economic recovery. The panellists are Antonio Tajani, EU commissioner for industry and entrepreneurship, Austrian MEP Paul Ruebig, on the Industry Committee in the European Parliament, and Arnaldo Abruzzini secretary general oof Eurochambres, a leading European business association. The full debate will be broadcasted on April 23, at 13.00 CET. If you are interested in featuring the debate, please contact journalisthelp@thenewsmarket.com. Available content includes a debate teaser.
