Preventing radicalisation in Europe and North Africa

Release Date: 03 May 2016

The threat of more terrorist attacks is concentrating minds across the EU like never before. Young Europeans and young North Africans are travelling to Syria to train with ISIS.

MEPs discussed how European and North African countries can work together to stop young people and others from being drawn into terrorism.

A representative from the European Institute for Peace stressed the need to prevent societies from polarising. Morocco's Ambassador to the EU spoke about the media's responsibility to report success stories of Muslim integration in Europe. And EPP Group MEP Mariya Gabriel pinpointed a training centre for Imams as a good example of how radicalisation can be tackled.
