Sant'Agata Bolognese/Daytona Beach, Fla., January 28th 2016.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has captured a place on the front row of the GT Daytona (GTD) field for its debut with the Huracán GT3 in the famed 24 Hours at Daytona.

Konrad Motorsport driver Marc Basseng turned the second-quickest time in the No. 28 Lamborghini during the 15-minute qualifying session at 2 minutes, 6.357 seconds to secure the front row starting position.

"We're quite happy with the result: P2, first row, is a good position for the 24 hours," Basseng said. "The mechanics did an awesome job to prepare the car. The conditions are over the limit, so much aquaplaning, but I found a good lap and did a quite good lap time. I'm confident for the race, the driver lineup is good and reliable and also the team has demonstrated to be well prepared for a tough race like this."

Team Konrad Motorsport, with two Huracán GTDs on track, has two experienced drivers in Daytona : owner and co-driver of the No. 28, Franz Konrad – a class winner in the 1998 Daytona 24 hours – will make his 17th appearance in the event and the Italian Lamborghini factory driver Fabio Babini is at his fourth 24 Hours at Daytona.

Regarding the other three customer teams that field Huracán GTDs for the race : O'Gara Motorsport's No. 11 Lamborghini, qualified by Townsend Bell will start ninth for the 54th anniversary of the 24 Hours at Daytona. Bell's best time was recorded at 2:08.906.

Bryce Miller qualified the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracán with a best time of 2:13.398 to start 17th in the GTD field.

Konrad's second car, the No. 21, will start 19th after Emanuele Busnelli turned a qualifying time of 2:18.716.

The No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini sustained damage in the first practice of the day Thursday. The team missed qualifying but is expected to start the race on Saturday.
