The opening round of the 2016 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe at Monza was marked by a big variety of protagonists: from the victory in Race 1 of Dennis Lind at his debut, to the success of Konrad Motorsport with the duo formed by Nicolas Armindo and Henry Hassid, who won Race 2.
The one-make series started from Monza with many new features and a record grid of 47 cars. Stunning numbers and a great show on track.
If on Saturday, with changing weather conditions, everyone was behind Huracan of Dennis Lind (Raton Racing), Race 2, which took place on Sunday, was marked by the release of two safety cars: the first one coincided with the "pit stop window" for driver change. This shuffled the cards on track and the duo formed by Armindo-Hassid (Konrad Motorsport. Pro-Am class) found themselves in the right place at the right moment. especially considering their starting position:P22.
Behind them, first in Pro class, concluded Nicola De Marco and Fabrizio Del Monte (Orange1 Team Lazarus), repeating the result achieved on Saturday with two second places overall.
In AM class, Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore) took the victory, by always fighting in the top ten with the leading group and finishing in P12 overall, while Tim Richards was the best in the Lamborghini Cup.
Still among the protagonists Dennis Lind who, however, was penalized by a spin while he was second, falling in the rear positions. Positive results for the young duo of Antonelli Motorspor t, Andrea Fontana and Lorenzo Veglia, third overall and second in Pro-Am class ahead of the Latvian Harald Schlegelmilch (Artline Team Georgia). The latter, starting from the pole position, in the initial phase of the race had to control the attacks of Vito Postiglione (Imperiale Racing).Postiglione, author of the best lap time in the first qualifying session, finished sixth overall behind the duo Loris Spinelli and Enrico Fulgenzi (Antonelli Motorsport).
The former F1 driver Nicola Larini, at his debut in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe with Petri Corse, repeated the result of Race 1, closing again in P9.
Among the youngsters, Martin Kodric (Bonaldi Motorsport) was still in evidence during the race, although he was not particularly lucky at the end, closing his race behind Giannoni.
His team mates, Patrick Kujala and Adrian Amstutz, were forced to withdraw, after the P5 overall and first place in Pro-Am on Race 1 on Saturday.
