EPP Group highlights the EU’s long−term need for young farmers

Release Date: 18 Oct 2018
The EPP Group held its fifth European Congress of Young Farmers in the European Parliament in Brussels.
The number of young people taking up farming is relatively low and there is growing concern that not enough are going into farming.
The European Commission has suggested that the EU gives more attention to encouraging young people to take up farming in its proposals for a reform of the EU’s Common Agriculture Policy.
MEPs explained more about why young farmers are needed and about a young farmers’ prize that the EPP Group organised.
