The future begins at the interfaces between mobility and logistics: more companies and start-ups at Hypermotion 2018

At the 2nd Hypermotion, 138 companies are presenting future-oriented solutions for tomorrow’s mobility and logistics. The number of start-ups taking part has more than tripled in comparison to last year’s première. The spectrum covered ranges from the digitalisation of transport systems and their interconnection, via innovative mobility concepts, bicycle traffic and transport electrification, to sustainable logistics solutions.
 
This morning saw the start of the second edition of Hypermotion, the three-day networking event. The patrons of this blend of fair, conferences, start-up pitches and talks are Germany’s Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure and the State of Hesse. The 2nd Hypermotion was opened by Dr Tobias Miethaner, Departmental Head at the Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Mathias Samson, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Hessian Ministry for Economics, Energy, Transport and State Development, and Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt. “The transport and mobility turnaround is an essential task, which calls for numerous people, companies, parties and interest groups to pull together – and to do so in the same direction. Hypermotion provides the ideal setting for this”, said Detlef Braun.
 
138 exhibitors, including eleven research projects by innovative universities, are showing their future-oriented products and solutions at the interfaces of mobility and logistics until 22 November 2018. In this connection, the number of start-ups taking part has more than tripled in comparison to last year’s première. Thus, 36 young founders are making presentations in the exhibition – with many of them also taking part in the pitches at the Hypermotion Lab and in the speed-networking event.
 
The companies showing urban-mobility solutions include Doppelmayr, which links urban centres in Bolivia with cable cars. Other exhibitors present intelligent sensor technologies that can be used to manage traffic flows in cities and thus reduce air pollution. The Smart City Loop start-up, for example, is presenting an environmentally-friendly solution developed for large cities and conurbations: the palettes with goods are transported automatically through underground tubes. Another highlight is the model of a space rover by Ispace Europe, with which the company aims to promote mobility in space and on the Moon.
 
Other subjects covered by the event include carsharing, smart mobility and smart parking, mobile ticketing applications for public transport, software for traffic planning and monitoring, digital innovation platforms, intelligent energy infrastructures and sustainable intermodal mobility solutions.
