IMF Argentina Meeting

IMF Managing Director welcomed Argentine Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne to the Fund’s headquarters Tuesday (September 04) for meetings on how to best provide financial support to the South American country.
The two had a warm and cordial greeting heading in to the meetings where they were set to discuss the implementation of economic aid to Argentina. The government of President Mauricio Macri has agreed to a set of fiscal measures designed to tame inflation and reduce the government budget deficit.
Earlier in the day US President Donald Trump signaled support for Macri’s handling of his countries financial troubles.
“I have confidence in President Macri’s leadership, and I strongly encourage and support his engagement with the International Monetary Fund to strengthen Argentina’s monetary and fiscal policies to tackle the country’s current economic challenges,” Trump said in a statement
